Life History

Bivoltine locally with a gap between generations in mid- to late July. iNaturalist records indicate that the species is bivoltine from the north end of its range in southern Ontario and Atlantic Canada, where it flies mainly in June and August with a gap in mid-July, into the Southeast, with a full third generation at the southern end of its range along the Gulf Coast and in southeast TX and FL. Of several common Crambini grass root feeders on Block Island, this is the only one common during a brief period in early September when Fissicrambus mutabilis has faded and Agriphila vulgivagellus and Crambus leachellus have just started to fly.
