Antennae bipectinate in male and filiform in female.

Identification

Spilosoma spp. and Hyphantria cunea can be difficult to separate on sight. On Block Island and throughout its range, S. latipennis may be reliably separated from similar species by the extensive pink scaling on its profemora. The wings and abdomen of this species are always pure white.
