Remarks
Block Island and Long Island were the only known localities in North America for this Old World species (and genus) until 2021. A handful of individuals have since been found on Fishers Island and in mainland Connecticut and Rhode Island. This introduced stock likely originated in Europe. A separate introduction of the species, probably of Oriental origin, was discovered in Virginia in 2023.
