Female wingless.

Life History

Males of this interesting introduced species, which has been used as a biological control of the invasive watermilfoil (Myriophyllum spicatum), may be found flying on the surface of Sachem Pond at least from late June to early July and occur in at least one other pond locally. The females are wingless, and mating occurs on the water surface. Larvae are aquatic.
