Remarks

This species has one of the most northerly ranges of any common moth species on Block Island, with most records on iNaturalist from the Canadian Prairie through the Great Lakes region to Massachusetts and the Canadian Maritimes and coastal records south to the New Jersey Pine Barrens. A future decline in local abundance could be an important marker of change in the island's moth fauna due to climate warming.

Life History

Univoltine on Block Island, flying mostly in June; evenly distributed among survey sites.
