Remarks

Larvae live in cases made from small plant parts and, in later instars, twigs, held together with silk. The larva affixes its case to a surface with silk and pupates inside the case. Females are larviform and call to males as soon as they eclose. Mating takes place at the rear end of the larval case, after which the female expels its eggs into the case and falls to the ground, where it dies. Males are seldom attracted to lights and are most easily found by rearing larvae. Reared adult females reliably attract males shortly after eclosing if left outside.
