Identification

Positive identification probably requires rearing. On Block Island, adults resembling this species have been found only in the beech and tupelo forest in the Scout camp, both in daytime resting on beech leaves and at lights. Mines of E. rubifoliella were recorded on the island in 1998; the species may not come to lights.
