Larval Host(s)

Presumed main host
on Block Island:

Known hosts:
Typha angustata

Typha angustata

Block Island was the only know locality for this Old World species (and genus) until 2021. A handful of individuals have since been found on Long Island and in mainland Connecticut and Rhode Island. Given its abundance on Block Island and rapid spread beyond the island in the last two years, I believe the species likely will become established throughout the region in the coming decade or two. The species identity of this population is not yet identified with certainty.
